Until the history of ideas proves otherwise, the term Islamic Inquisition is coined by Dr. Marvin F. Zayed. He openly declared this term on June 2000, in his lecture at the University of Winnipeg, during the Humanist Association of Canada convention.
The title of his lecture was: Philosophy, Free Thought and the Islamic Inquisition. The lecture has been published as short treaties in the same year, and under the same title.
The term has been accepted and used by other freethinkers in Canada and worldwide.
On late 2000, Dr. Zayed was inspired by the richness of the term and created the International Archive of the Islamic Inquisition. Series of Files, Cases, has been published under the archive’s name and will continue to be published in the near future. (Please go to Publications). |
